I am co-founder of Kloop, investigative and news media. Despite being based in the small Central Asian country of Kyrgyzstan, Kloop is the recipient of IRE's Tom Renner, Sigma and other journalism awards. My personal focus is the development of tools that empower journalists. I believe that crowd-sourcing and AI can make journalists and society better and not worse. My current pet project is called GigaTurnip, a Django-based system for data collection and verification. It enabled Kloop to coordinate and report in real-time observations from more than three thousand volunteers during elections in Kyrgyzstan. Currently, GigaTurnip helps Kloop to turn its data materials into sustainable online services.
