Eyewitness and citizen media shared via social networks and online platforms offer both opportunities and challenges for rights researchers and investigative journalists. In this workshop, Ed Bice will introduce open source investigation tools and techniques to help you find, verify, geolocate and archive digital media to support investigations and research. In addition to practical guidance and hands-on experience, the workshop will also cover some of the ethical considerations around citizen evidence, and introduce best practices for limiting exposure to vicarious trauma.
